Is it possible to measure to 0.1mm with a camera?

I don't think you can do it with a 'normal' camera system.
In principle, 0.1 mm is not an issue, but not with an object size of 300mm!
So you need a camera with at least 3000x .... pixels.
And then you still have no leeway to fully recognize and grasp the object in the field of view.
Typically, a telecentric lens is used for surveying tasks, but it is 1) quite expensive and 2) probably not available for such a large field of view.

My suggestion is that you take several 'high-resolution' pictures of the object and calculate these together at prominent edges or similar to form a total length.
Didn't want to take the wind out of your sails, but the task is not without ...
