How do you train for Capoeira

F.A.Q.

frequently asked Questions

I haven't had any martial arts experience

You are not alone! Most of our students start from scratch. We teach you all the basic exercises that you can then build on.

What if I am not in good shape? What if I am not flexible enough?

Do not get discouraged. The stamina and flexibility come with time and training. If you make it to training, our trainer will get you in shape. The more you train, the faster you will see results.

Am I too old (or too young) to start capoeira?

It is never too late and rarely too early to start Capoeira with us. We have members in our group in their 60s, while our youngest students are only a few years old. The teaching units are designed in such a way that they do justice to the abilities of each individual student and also incorporate the abilities of the whole group.

How long does it take to learn Capoeira?

It depends on your personal goals. Imagine you are learning a new language. The more words you know, the more precisely you can express yourself. If your goal was to have a conversation that looked like, "Hi, how are you?" and "I'm fine thank you" you should be able to do so within the first 2-3 months. If you want to talk about philosophy and politics, you better prepare to learn more than you would need for any language.

How often should i exercise?

Most students start with 1-2 times a week.

What should I wear?

A comfortable workout outfit is okay for the first few times. If you decide to register with us, we will offer a suitable uniform for a few euros.

Why is everyone barefoot? Can i use shoes?

Most capoeiristas do not wear shoes during training. There are several reasons for this, but the main reason is that you can easily get an ankle or knee injury while wearing shoes. Training without shoes also promotes muscles and stability better. It takes a while for your body to get used to it.

What should I bring?

Bring a towel and water.

Can I just watch?

Naturally! You are cordially invited to watch a training session. There will always be someone there to answer any questions you may have.
