University of Veterinary Medicine, Vienna

  1. Nine members are to be elected to the works council.
  2. The list of those entitled to vote is available in the personnel department of the University of Veterinary Medicine, Vienna, along with a copy of the 1974 works council election regulations (ordinance of the Federal Ministry for Social Administration of May 22, 1974, Federal Law Gazette No. 319 as amended) for all employees employed in the company as academic university staff and workers.
  3. Objections to the electoral list can be raised by any employee who is entitled to vote in the company by 10 November 2008 to the undersigned chairperson of the electoral board; Objections made late will not be taken into account.
  4. Proposals for election, which the candidates must specify in detail, must be submitted in writing to a member of the election committee from the date of the election announcement by November 12, 2008. Candidates submitted late will not be considered. Each nomination must contain a list of no more than twice as many candidates as members of the works council are to be elected. An election proposal is only valid if it is signed by at least 13 employees; Any signatures of candidates for election are only counted up to an amount of 6 against the required number of signatures. One of the signatories of the nomination is to be named as its representative. The nomination must be given a distinctive designation (parliamentary group, list name).
  5. Starting from November 21, 2008, the nominations for elections will be available on the official notice board of the University of Veterinary Medicine, Vienna for the electorate to inspect.
  6. Voting will take place on November 26th, 2008 and on November 27th, 2008 in the small meeting room of the University of Veterinary Medicine, Vienna, Building CA, 1st floor, Veterinärplatz 1, 1210 Vienna, from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. In addition, all employees are given the opportunity to exercise their right to vote by voting by post.
  7. Only those votes are valid that are cast for an election proposal approved for election. The nomination must be marked with a cross on the ballot or otherwise clearly indicated, e.g. by crossing out all other nominations or by specifying one or more candidates. 08. Von Fircks Fund for Doctoral Scholarships - Announcement of scholarships

The VUW offers 4 doctoral scholarships to promote young academics. These scholarships are intended to give the scholarship recipients the opportunity to devote themselves to writing their doctoral thesis in a concentrated manner and in a time-definable manner. The scholarships are awarded according to the quality of the research project. If the quality is the same, two doctoral scholarships are awarded primarily to promote young academics from countries outside the EU.

The aim of this funding program is to promote the efficiency of young scientists in the field of veterinary medicine in order to strengthen the competitiveness of Austria in the field of research.

Applicants are invited to apply for a degree in veterinary medicine at the VUW or a degree abroad that is equivalent in terms of duration, structure and requirements and who are currently completing a doctoral degree at VUW or who meet the requirements for admission to a doctoral degree at VUW and their previous studies have completed quickly. In addition to above-average qualifications, the submission of a detailed dissertation exposé is required. The dissertation exposé is to be prepared jointly with the dissertation supervisor, who must be a member of the University of Veterinary Medicine, Vienna, together with a statement from the dissertation supervisor and with proof that the work opportunities necessary for the implementation of the dissertation project for the duration of the scholarship must be submitted to the rector. The amount of the scholarship is currently a maximum of € 15,000 per year. The exact modalities of the funding are set out in an individual funding agreement between the VUW - represented by the rector - and the scholarship holders. The scholarship is granted for a period of one year. Payment is made proportionally in twelve equal parts, at the end of each month. The funding year begins on the first of the month following the signing of the funding agreement. Intended start of funding: March 1st, 2009

The documents must be submitted to the rector of the University of Veterinary Medicine, Vienna. The rector decides on the award together with the vice rector for teaching and the vice rector responsible for research.
