iPad / iPhone Export iPhone contacts - that's how it works


The iPhone contacts are not saved on the SIM card, but directly on the device. However, you can export your contacts as "vcf" files via iCloud or special apps, making them easier to send or transfer to other devices. Our instructions show you how to do it:

Export iPhone contacts via iCloud

Before you actually start exporting, you need to have the Download contacts to iCloud. To do this, open the "Settings" > "Apple ID" > "iCloud"and activate the Button at "contacts". Tap on "Merge"to confirm the operation.

Export iPhone contacts using an app

If you are on the move or do not want to upload your contacts to the iCloud, you can also export them with the help of an app. Unfortunately, this is only available from iOS 12. Follow our step-by-step instructions or take a look at our quick start guide.

  1. about your Browser and log in there with your Apple ID at.
  2. Click on "contacts".
  3. Highlight all contacts and then go to that Settings icon bottom left.
  4. Choose "Export vCard ..." off and to save The contacts file on your computer.

Note: We use the "Easy Backup" app as an example for our instructions. You can find other apps with similar functions in the App Store. You can use the free version for up to 300 contacts. The Pro version is available from € 3.99.

  1. Download the app "Easy backup" from the App Store down.
  2. Open the app and allow access to your contacts via "Access contacts" > "OK".
  3. Tap on "Further"after the contacts have been imported into the app.
  4. Then go to the Backup icon in the middle and after creating it select that Email symbol bottom left.
  5. The "vcf"-file is located as attachment in the email. Send this or save the file e.g. on your computer.
