Sports manager: salary at the start of the career

First of all, it is important to know that many individual points are important in order to be able to compare the sports manager salary. Because the typical dream jobs as a manager in a large football club, an association or a sporting goods manufacturer are few and far between. And the demand for it is great, so that on average no huge starting salary is to be expected. In addition, the large companies pay (sometimes significantly) more salaries than small fitness studios, for example.

But now to the starting salary after studying sports management. We were able to find out the following information:

You can see that it is even possible to get more money with a bachelor's degree than with a master’s degree. This is mainly due to the employer. Nevertheless, one can say for the start of a career:

  • The average salary for young professionals is around € 2,600 gross per month.
  • The salary range is "relatively" large: between € 2,400 and € 2,900.

Development of earnings in professional life

The above figures indicate the sports manager's salary in the first few years after graduation or when starting a career. But what about in the further course? The amount of the salary in later professional life is above all depending on the companywhere to work. As a rule, the large companies (Adidas, Puma or football clubs for the sports industry) pay a significantly higher salary than small companies or agencies. The more responsibility you take on within a company, the higher the salary as a sports manager will be.

Commission payments and bonuses are not paid in all companies, but they are not uncommon for management jobs. As far as monthly income is concerned, it is very difficult to give binding figures here too. With a few years of work experience under your belt and a bit of luck, you can expect a salary of € 4,000 or more (gross / month). Of course, there are also outliers upwards and downwards. We asked professional sports managers in our own survey. Here are the results:
