The Minerva Foundation Society for Research supports doctoral students and postdocs from all disciplines with its fellowship program.

Description of the program

The Minerva scholarship program is the oldest of the existing programs to promote German-Israeli cooperation. The scholarships are awarded to young scientists from Israel and Germany for a research stay at a host institution in the other country.

Number of scholarships

Around 20 scholarships are awarded annually.

running time

Doctoral students are supported for between 6 and 36 months, postdocs for between 6 and 24 months.

Scholarship benefit

The monthly grant rate for doctoral students is 1,698 euros plus a travel and material cost allowance of 135 euros.
For postdocs, the monthly grant rate is 2,858 euros plus an international allowance of 1,266 to 1,489 (depending on the family situation).
At the start of the scholarship, the sponsored receive a moving and start-up lump sum as well as a subsidy for health insurance. Language courses are supported with 800 euros.

Application requirements

Doctoral students who have completed a university degree and postdocs who have German citizenship or who have been working at an academic institution in Germany for at least five years can apply.

Application deadline
