Which university offers a Masters in Physiotherapy?

Musculoskeletal Physiotherapy

Musculoskeletal Physiotherapy treats functional restrictions of the musculoskeletal system due to physical and psychosocial causes. Since 2006, the master’s course has been carried out in accordance with the standards of the “International Federation of Orthopedic Manipulative Physical Therapists” (IFOMPT) and in cooperation with Physio Austria. The program combines the strengths of the cooperation partners and offers graduates the opportunity to acquire a master’s degree and at the same time receive an internationally sought-after diploma for orthopedic manual therapy (OMT) according to the IFOMPT standard as a second degree.

In addition to theory, it is also important to link the knowledge to practice and to convert knowledge into practical action, whereby this should be seen under the aspects of evidence-based medicine and scientifically proven results.

The cornerstones are:
• Development of physiotherapeutic expert competence in the field of diagnostics, interpretation and treatment of functional restrictions of the musculoskeletal system based on the "International Classification of Functioning, Disability and Health" (ICF).
• Development of analytical, structured and reflective approaches to the entire treatment process including evaluation.
• Critical handling of relevant subject-specific literature, the assessment of the evidence of studies including the interpretation of scientific results in context.
• Independent positioning in the team of all persons involved and working together in the treatment process as well as development of skills for presentation and communication of professional competence.
In addition to professional competence at an international level, the course also imparts social and management skills.
The present postgraduate training is characterized by the cross-concept design of the course content, which corresponds to the international standards of IFOMPT.
