Why does Islam discourage polygamy

Hardened fronts

“Islam is a barbaric ideology.” There are increasing numbers of people who hold such views. Disguised behind the term Islamic criticism, some of them take advantage of the legitimate demand for a critical examination of a religion and its followers in order to stir up prejudice. Many Muslims are appalled. Reactionary defenses are strengthening among them. Calls for change are seen by some as expressions of hostile sentiments per se. Anyone who points out deficits is attacked. The rifts in society threaten to become insurmountable. A sensible criticism of Islam is necessary. To do this, the excesses of Islamophobia must be suppressed and the willingness to act among Muslims must be increased. The book reviews issues such as youth crime rates and debates such as the Sarrazin case. It gathers texts from the volumes “Islamophobia” and “Islamverherrigung” and supplements them with eight new articles.

With texts by Hamed Abdel-Samad, Nasr Hamid Abu Zayd, Klaus J. Bade, Wolfgang Benz, Ernst-Wolfgang Böckenförde, Lamya Kaddor, Salomon Korn, Christian Pfeiffer and others.
