How to accept / decline an invitation in English

A formal invitation, such as that sent out at a wedding or conference, also requires a formal, yet warm response. Let's take a look at a few examples:

Mr and Mrs Smith accept with pleasure your kind invitation for Saturday, 7th July.
(Mr. and Mrs. Smith gladly accept your kind invitation for Saturday, July 7th.)

Dear Mr and Mrs Morrison,
Thank you for the kind invitation to your wedding. We are looking forward to the celebration. Both Mr Johnson and myself will be accepting the invitation.
Is there a gift registry?
Thank you very much.
